It's official...

I now have to make TWO pot pies to feed my family. I knew the day was coming and it has finally arrived.

I normally make just one large pot pie to feed my family, but lately it just hasn't seemed like enough. I found myself cutting smaller and smaller pieces so that everyone that wanted seconds (or thirds in the case of my 8-year-old son!) would feel as though they had gotten enough to eat!

So tonight, I planned ahead and decided to make two pies.

And this next photo was taken just before my eight-year-old son said, "Mom, may I have just one more piece of that pie?"

Goodbye "one-pie-days".

Have you tried Flexi Clips?

I have long thick hair and am always looking for new, attractive ways to fix it. I also have 5 small children so I also need EASY ways to fix my hair! I have my eye on this beauty: Large Silver Deep Set Rose.

Julie and Julia

Okay, I realize that I'm way behind on the times, but if by chance you are like me and do not see movies the second they are released...I would like to recommend that you see the movie Julie and Julia. I just finished watching it and I loved it! Of course, I love food and I love to cook, so it is a given that I would probably enjoy this movie. Meryl Streep did a fantastic job of accurately portraying the legend Julia Child. A must see by all food lovers and cooking fanatics.

Progressive Party with Spring Onion Jam

Recently I was introduced to Kitchen Play and the idea of a Progressive Party. Well, when I saw that this month's sponsor is the National Onion Association and all the recipes include the glorious onion, I just knew that I had to participate! The menu did not disappoint. It includes some amazing recipes and it was hard to choose which one to try first. I finally decided to try the Spring Onion Jam first (you bet, I'll be making some of the other recipes too!).

Tonight was the night! I made the Spring Onion Jam Bruschetta as a prelude to our dinner. Oh my! It was lovely! I will admit that mine did not look as pretty as Susi's, but the taste was phenomenal. There are a couple of reasons mine did not look quite like Susi's. First, the recipe calls for white balsamic vinegar, which I don't have in my pantry and I'm not too proud to admit that until now, I did not even know that there was such a thing as white balsamic vinegar. Now I know! Another variant was that it called for light brown sugar which is what I normally have but for some strange reason, I purchased dark brown sugar on my last trip to the store.

Here I've assembled the ingredients and are preparing to begin.

The wonderful sweet onion!

As you can see, my jam was much darker in color than Susi's.

I used a Pinot Grigio which not only tasted good in the jam, but accompanied the recipe quite well.

I did all of this with 5 little ones under my feet...I'm not bragging ya'll, I'm just saying! Anyway, that being said, I made some without the onion jam for the 3 that don't care for onions (don't worry, I'll make onion lovers out of them yet!).

Now get on over to Kitchen Play and join the party!
